Today's bit of sweetness

It is difficult to concentrate on study when there are so many more interesting things to do... like look for pretty pictures for my blog..surfing the net, staring out the window...!

Today I thought that I was going to head to Spotlight for lunch and then meet the husband for lunch which motivated me to pull out some of my patterns and consider looking at sewing some dresses.  Very time consuming and probably not a good idea in exams!

With my sewing stuff was I think that still remains my favourite text book:  Costume and Fashion, a concise History.  James Laver.  When I got this book I knew I was studying the right course.  It is BEAUTIFUL and the pictures in it - !!!.   It looks like a coffee table book I would see in the window of a bookstore and wish I had it at home.   So today's bit of sweet is...... my textbook.... (yes really).

photos actually from this source as I do not have a scanner to copy my own book....

Another text book that made me happy:

New Complete Guide to Sewing (Readers Digest)

I thought that I was going to become some sewing wiz but alas, that is not the case!  Not enough time in between work / study / procrastination.  Hopefully I will change that and move on from cushions to couture!

Wedding Present

Cushions are going to be my main focus for my next few projects I would say.  I have the extreme pleasure of helping out Kat @ Paris Cheek Accessories while she is busy with wedding plans and then her honeymoon so that is giving me a nice creative outlet for now.

Speaking of Kat, my next project is her wedding present.  She has asked me for some cushions for her living room which is in a lovely 50's / 60's ? era house.  The carpet is brown and cream and she currently has some green cushions in there so I might see if I can fit it in with those or just try and tie it in with the carpet and wooden furniture.

So my Inspiration for this project is the colours brown, cream, green and wooden furniture.  Thanks to the era of the house it will also  be keeping in-line with the majority of my inspiration - retro!

FABRIC

Some gorgeous selections at http://www.funkyfabrix.com.au/.  They have such a stunning collection of fabrics, a really cute and easy site to navigate and they happen to be based in my hometown of Brisbane.  I will have to pop in there and check them out next time I am visiting Brisbane.

I can't go too crazy, although I wanted to buy everything.  I am not sure if the letters would go but think that I might make cushions for my own house with the letters.  I am leaning towards the bamboo as I think it will suit her house but I will see how it turns out.

I love and was tempted by the Senioritias,  I think I will focus on the designer of this fabric for my next collection.
